Just signed up for my first day of the year. I'll be doing Saturday only. Not even sure what configuration they'll be running, but very excited to start off the season on asphalt less than a year old! :punk

Packing up and heading out tomorrow. Anyone else going? Weather is supposed to be 76 and sunny. I've been told the track is pretty unforgiving, but the videos I've seen don't really support that claim. It does look like it might be hard to learn.

This track is great! Super smooth, a little tricky, and fast. Had a few uncomfortable moments, but recovered ok. There was one guy on an RC8 during the second session after lunch that had his engine lock up round turn 5. 130 mph through the esses. From on the gas to a rear wheel lockup.... it was a little ugly. He walked away. If you can make it to NCM, I highly recommend it.

Yep. Every session on my GoPro. Except one where it just turned off at 5 minutes for no reason. I'll be putting a couple laps on youtube in the next few days.

2 laps from the 2nd session. Still learning the track. I had the camera up front again for the last session, but somehow got turned onto photo burst so I've got 30 pics of the paddock (damn it). Was much faster and cleaner on the shifts then. I was too focused on makers to pay attention to gearing.

Think I might need to get some pegs with more clearance. My toes were hitting the ground all day.

Nice!!! Your lines are decent and you're pretty smooth and fast! You ever mess around with clutchless upshifting? It's the bees knees when you get the hang of it. Regarding your toes dragging.. I kinda put my inside foot at an angle where the outside of my foot is on the peg, and the inside is against the bike. This helps me get some clearance and helps my old broke down ass get my knee out easier.

I used to clutchless shift. Since I'm not racing, the time savings isn't worth the extra wear on the transmission. My toes touching isn't all bad. It's a good warning indicator. Mostly it means I'm not hanging off enough, but I've got about an 1/8" unused on the rear, and about 1/4" on the front. The bike has more lean angle, but hitting a peg honestly scares the hell out of me.

I've got a lot to work on. I was engine braking into a lot of corners so the faster guys were probably annoyed with that. I tried to stay predictable so they had room to get through. Staying relaxed was difficult; I kept pulling myself forward on acceleration. Mostly what I was working on this day was getting my shoulders and head over more and staying loose on the bars. I had my camera on the tail for 4 sessions and it's really helpful. Later in the day (like the pic) I was getting over more and about 20mph faster in the corners. I have a long, long way to go.

I'm not convinced that there is any extra wear on the tranny when it's done correctly, but you do probably have less of a chance of missing a shift by using the clutch. I just do it because I learned to ride on dirt and clutchless is the norm there.

Anyway, looking good. I'll have some video posted up from my track day at Jennings this coming Monday. We can laugh about my old slow ass together. :lol :cheers

When done right is the key. Still, if there's any load on the drive train when you shift, it starts rounding the corners of the dogs. And all it take is one done wrong to do some serious damage. Besides, using the clutch forces me to be light on the left bar.....
