Just have a few questions in regards to chain adjusters for a 2010 gsxr 1000

I currently have them fitted to my bike (gold) and I have just bought a new set (black)

They both have the same codes as shown in the photos but the black set has a larger diameter hole for the axle so doesn't hold them tight light the gold set. they also have a separate threaded bracket. Which I can't understand what it is for

I have attached photos of both sets with the codes shown.

Hoping you can help me out with this

Thanks for your time!, regards dylan

The axle should fit reasonably snugly into the adjuster, just as snugly as the adjuster fits into the swingarm. It sounds like your black set uses a generic fits-all adjuster plus an insert to match the axle. Is that what's going on? I'm unimpressed if so. I haven't heard bad things about the LighTech adjusters but there used to be several posts here about failed aftermarket adjusters.

Is that just road grime on your gold adjuster or has the plating on the adjustment screw & nut started to fail?

On the new set there is around 2-3mm between axle. That set came of The same model but a track bike

The nut bolts onto the otherside of the axle tho. Not where the standard axle nut is

It's just grime. Haven't bothered giving them a good clean I thought I was putting a new set on 😂

I can only guess but it sounds like the track bike used a different rear wheel with a larger diameter axle. You shouldn't use an adjuster that doesn't have a reasonably snug fit onto the axle. That will allow the axle to move forward-backwards, which is highly undesirable. Having said that, the OEM adjusters only prevent the axle from sliding forward. But they have a hole that matches the axle. A larger hole means that the fancy adjustment marks on the black adjusters don't mean a lot. Also an axle that's smaller than the hole may start wearing the adjuster at the contact point.

At first I couldn't see the adjustment marks on the gold adjuster. Were they once white or black and the paint has gone away? You might consider applying some paint to make the markings more visible.
