I'm looking for recommendations on where to take my 2005 GSXR1000 for the 14,500 mile service, either a reputable dealership or a private mechanic. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I have taken my K6 to Patrick Ho of Performance Concepts for major service that I couldn't do (TB synch, valve adjustments). He's a great tech who is very detail-oriented. He works out of his home in Pinole. Give him a call and tell him that Connie's friend Jeff recommended him! unk

Thats a pretty important service interval. I've taken my K5 over to sportbike dynamics in Petaluma, 707 762 6700.

His name is Alan. He races AFM and has been working on gixxers for a long time so he knows these bikes pretty well.

It's a bit of a ride from WC and the shop rate is not cheap. He has a rather unique personality, so it takes some getting used to.

I've been a regular customer for a couple years now, and one things that has never wavered is his commitment to doing quality work, letting you watch so you can see exactly whats being done and to ask questions.

It's expensive, but knowing that your bike is mechanically sound and safe to ride is worth the money spent.

Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the recommendation. I had Patrick service my bike and he did a great a job. He took the time to review all the work performed during the service and all issues he uncovered during his review. The work was done professionally at a very reasonable price and he offered some helpful tips on bike setup.

If anyone needs work performed on their bike, regardless of make or model, give Patrick a call.
