ok guy so i ive been riding gixxers for four years now! i have an k7 600 and a k9 600. both of them i have put slip on and havent had any problems

so i just bought the k8 1000 and when i went to look at it the guy had a slip on it but with the cat removed and power commander. i rode the bike and it was smooth and everything seemed to be cool!! anyways part of the deal was that he would take the exhaust and the power commander.

so i got the bike and installed a yosh on it and a kn air filter not a full system but still gets rid of the cat. those are the only two mods that are done to it other then that the bike is stock

but now for some reason the bike seems to idle rough and lets say if i hold the throtle as 2000 rpm it will sit there and the idle will jump up and down. almost like it wants to stall

so i checked the spark plugs theyre good
changed the gas and ran injector cleaner through it
check all the wires
checked the 02 sensor
everything seems to be in check
i resest the ecm which i believe you do buy just disconnecting the battery

but the bike seems to run rough and want to die at lower rpms

any idea guys???
please help

it jumps up about another 300 to 500 in rpms

so after reading a bunch of threads on here im assuming i should get a pcv
and then take it in to get to mapped

now if thats the case should i also remove the set valve and o2 sensor?

any other mods i should do while i have everything open?

It could still be the plugs, as unlikely as it may seem to be; I had a similar issue arise with my bike and a new set of plugs completely fixed the problem. Removing the cat and adding some aftermarket pipes should not make it idle like you have described.

Read through my thread here, and if it sounds at all like what you are experiencing, just buy a new set before you drop big bucks into trying to fix the problem.

Do you have the baffle in the yoshi slip-on? I found that running my K7 without some kind of baffle in the end can made for a very rough idle. Has to do with no back pressure at very low rpm's. Everyone want's to have the loudest baddest pipe, with a low volume insert in my end can I lost no power anywhere in the rev range, yet cured the rough idle issue you mention. Also I would stick with the stock airfilter if you are not going to install a PC. Aftermarket airfliter's will just make the bike run leaner and lose power. Good luck, let us know how you get on. Also just buying a pc and installing it won't cure everything, you will still need to spend time on a dyno mapping it, can get costly very quickly.

In bold above, with a power commander the 02 sensor is no longer used. There should be a small white connector with the pc which is a 02 sensor delete, plugs into wires that go to ecu.

I had the same problem (rpms 2000 and higher) after installing a racefit mega with k&n filter. So i installed a pc V and got it mapped & tuned and that solved it for alittle while so then i took it back where i got it tuned (Suzuki dealer) and they told me it was the trottle bodies sensor how true that was i dont know but they replaced it 6 months ago and have had no problem since. The trottle bodies had a recall in 07 so i was thinking they still have some bad ones out so keep that in mind. I wouldnt change the plugs since it will run rich (air/fuel ratio) and may screw up the new plugs unless your taking it to get tuned.

I bet your running like 19.0+ A/F with that setup at idle to 2k rpm. Zuk does this for emissions. Get a PCIII or PCV ASAP. Your bottom end is lean is all. Nothing is wrong with your bike dont waste money on anything but getting a computer upgrade or put the stock filters back in and throw some K&N oil on them make them starve the engine little for O2 this will help a tad but totally the wrong way to go about fixing it correctly.

I have a data logger I have the map files stock A/F and mods you mentioned. I ended up richening bottom end to 14.0 A/F Idle- 2k rpm . good luck dude.

Good day. I know this is a super old thread but Im in the same exact boat as you. My bike idles fine at 1300rpm and when I give it throttle but as soon as I reach 2k rpm it drops to 1600ish and bounces back to 2k constantly if I hold the throttle where it should be at 2k rpm. If I slightly start turning the throttle from where 2k rom should be it still bounces at the 1500-2000rpm until I reach 30% travel of the throttle then it shoots up to about 3500 rpm and start rises to about 4500 with no control of the rpm. Even when cruising in traffic it would act herky jerky if I have it at 2k rpm, feels ugly. But one noticeably thing is if I hit the kill switch and turn in back on to the running position and let the pump prime and complete its cycle and start the bike, for a few second I could smoothly creep through the 2k rpm and higher with no rpm bouncing but after like 8 seconds if I have it hold in the affected rpm range the idle will start bounce like before. When I do the same procedure of cutting off the engine and then letting it complete its fuel pump priming and starting it while in diagnostic mode. It run smooth through the affected range until couple of seconds until it start acting but when it does the the c-40 comes up. And thats for the ISC (Idle Speed Control). I did as much trouble shooting. My TPS is in specs, IAP sensor is good, new spark plugs, fuel pump is working great and the injectors are clean. So Im wondering if the ISC. Has any other function than regulating air to each cylinder. If also sends signal to the ecu to give more or less fuel to the injectors. My bike is a Suzuki gsxr 1000 2007. Recently change my 2007 ecu to the upgraded one from off the 2008. They have different ECU number. I know they were a recall for the 2007 ecu and isc. The thing that puzzles me is that it returns to idle normal even the 2k-4500 rpm is acting up.
