You really should have asked for advice BEFORE buying a bike. But now that you got it, and the gear, just be sure you always wear your gear, and take the MSF course before you even try to ride that thing. Get frame sliders for when you drop it.
And be sure you ride more than just the 4 miles for work every day.
I don't see how you can learn quickly if that's all the riding you're gonna be doing.
