I'm making my custom highmount setup in a week or so. I'm going to order some mandrel bent tubing and fabricate from there....

Question is......I have the V+H system now....Mid pipe O.D. is close to 2.125...

I bought a Yosh RS-3 can to use. The inlet on that is 3". I've already made a flange to bolt to the can, and my friend is rolling me an reducer from 3" to whatever i want....

Thats the question?......Should i increase the Diam of the mid pipe to say 2.250????

I can cut the collector of the head pipe and make whatever i want...Since i'm going to get the header coated anyway....

Should i increase or keep everything the same and just use 2.125 tubing.....Like the V+H setup....

Mods will soon include......1127 with.....

40's.....
Cams.....
Head porting....(clean up a little )

Well, not being an exhaust expert...I gotta think that increasing the diameter will reduce your back pressure. You should contact Jeff and see what he suggests...he is the spawn of a Cray computer after all.

sorry, i honestly don't know what effects those changes would have. you may even find that if you go with one exhaust configuration, it will work well on your current engine setup, but not so well after the engine mods.....or vice versa. or you may not notice any difference at all between the different configurations.

you may want to try contacting an exhaust specialist like hmf engineering, they should be able to give you some ideas.

You probably don't want to vary the ID of the exhaust system, as this will change the characteristic of the whole system.

Anyway, you should get a copy of A. Graham Bell's "Four-stroke performance tuning" book. It has a whole chapter devoted to exhaust systems, with formulas to caculate header length, ID, collector design, etc.
