I started measuring up my regulator to make a new bracket to relocate it and i noticed the back plastic side of it looks like its buckled out. Is this a sign that the regulator has already been to hot and is on its way out.

Honestly, I have only seen bad rectifiers so I don't know but it is still a $20.00 rectifier. If you feel safe riding with it, don't replace it. Have you tested the rectifier? The stator? The electrical system to check if everything is in spec? Do you have a service manual?

I dont feel safe riding with it but im going to stick with it for next 2 months until winter then ill replace it with a mosfet and relocate it at the same time.

I havnt tested any of the electrical system, ive only had the bike for 4 days. i downloaded a workshop manual off the net.

One thing i did notice was the stator wiring isnt taking the original route to the regulator, its cable tied to my frame slider so im guessing the stator has been replaced at some stage and also leaking oil out of the stator wire bung on engine casing.
