Hello everyone i have been looking for an engine for my 08 gsxr1000 my engine was f*** in the a and the block is screwed so I can’t even rebuild the engine so i came across a great deal for a 2010 engine so i started wondering. Can i put a newer engine in my gsxr? So I asked some people and they answered some dumb answers. So i wanna know what do i need to change to make that 2010 engine fit my 08 gsxr and put in mind that the engines for 2007 and 2008 year models are extremely rare in my area

The K9 (and L0) engine is a major redesign where the crankcase was changed from three to two pieces, and the crankshaft and transmission shafts were repositioned to make the engine more compact and allow for a longer swingarm. Crankshaft oiling was completely redone and parts like the clutch & starter cover were changed from two parts to one. I don't know but suspect that this resulted in the location of the engine mounting bolts in the frame also being changed. If so, it's going to require major changes to a K8 frame to accept the later engine, which sounds like a huge deal. The width may be the same but the different cover, etc. may result in conflicts with the bodywork. There are likely to also be a bunch of wiring issues. Kuwait or not, find a used K7/K8 engine on ebay or in Japan and have it shipped to you.

I know of Croooober but associate them with parts, not whole engines. There's also Yahoo Japan auctions. A search should show you others.

P.S. Here's one in California. I don't know anything about international shipment of such items.
