I keep hearing about peoples' gixxers breaking crankshafts--mostly the 1100's. Is this an area worthy of concern? How durable are these bikes in general?

The oil cooled bikes are very reliable. I have 40k on my 1100 and have quite a bit of mods done to it. They are still fast and reliable enough to get the respect they deserve.

DURABLE!!! Man you got a MULE!!!!!!! You have an AIR COOLED Monster breathing.....living......ripping hearts from the new skool generation...." Exciting isn't it...lol " I remember I used to start my R up and leave so many black lines infront of my yard you would of thought that it was a track...lol. I stopped doing that after I took some motorcycle maint. classes...
Learned the concept of warming a bike up until its at operating temp...
That was back in 92
When I was really fearless
but now its all about performance and power
Next time you put your mule on the chop block make sure your spec's are right top and bottom
if not you may run in to some problems when you least expect it. Thats why it costs to get it done
mo money mo better
Good luck and keep on keepin on
