That is a slick idea, just wondering what is giving the lift it's lateral support? Is that plumbing pipe cross braced?

The floor jack probably keeps things relatively stable but it is only at the one end.

damn, that is good. I would build one but I don't have a garage and my wife barely tolerates me keeping my bike in the living room. She has also finally gotten used to me stripping the fairings off once a week for preventive maintenance but I really doubt she would let me have a lift behind the couch. Hmmm, maybe I could turn the spare bath into a paint booth.

Dude, I'm jealous as hell. Every time I try something with wood, it gets so jacjed up it ends in the fire. Some guys were made for metal (me) some guys were made for wood (you know who you are), and others apparently have mastered both. Fine work my man, you are obviously of the latter!!!

My wife once told me to get the bike out of the house or she was leaving. YOu know,it's been 40 years now and I still miss her.

Thanks fellas!

I bought the plans from e-bay

The metal pipes are assembles in a square, you lift with the floor jack under the front one and a locking 2x4 drops down that is attached to the rear pipe. The jack supports the front, but i tried removing the jack and it stays up on the lock alone.

JB, I'm sure we could spend a saturday building one over some wobbly pops :)

cheers

Beer costs more than that!! hehe... (nah... it doesn't... just shitting ya)... but yeah, that's pretty good. It looks portable enough too. When is the last time you were able to easily load one of those all-metal lifts into the back of your truck?

That design looks just perfect for my garage, and for possibly taking to the track.

Rick... we need to talk a bit more. ;)

Rgr!

I'm thinking of installing handles on one side and caster wheels on the other and also installing a hasp on each side to keep it shut.

cheers
I was thinking on clasps for sure. Wheels would be interesting, and certainly make it easier to roll around to the back of the truck or location where you wanted to take it. Lifting would probably require an extra person... so wheels are good, and it beats dragging it... and ultimately degrading the finished product.
