I'm thinking about getting a ex500 since it will be my first bike. I was wondering, I know little to nothing about bikes, so don't flame me, but you shift with the left foot right? are there any sportsbikes with right foot shifting and the left foot isn't used?
thanks.

Yes you shift with the left foot. There are a few very old british bikes (before 1960 or so) that have right foot shifting and also some even older bikes that have hand shifting, but that's about it. You can get aftermarket air or electrical hand shifters that can be made to fit most bikes, though.

Why, BTW, medical problem with your left foot?

Your best be would be an electrical shifter for your left thumb, then. Kinda like the shifters in Formula 1 cars

Here's an example: link

Thanks for the welcome and the info guys. I'm definatly not gonna let my leg bother me I think and go for getting a bike. Hopefully a GSXR one day, But for now I'll get a ex500 and try to rig up a special shifter. It's not too expensive especially if i go with a used, not perfect condition ex500. thanks again!
