I got in an accident last year, I T-boned a porche that decided not to stop for a stop sign. The bike flipped into a million pieces and I was an idiot and didn't wear gear. Long story short, the right and left side were perfect where the sliders were. If sliders could do that much protection, Imagine what they could do if you slide or simply drop the bike. Get sliders! I have the same bike you do. Get sliders, exhaust, intake, (paint or get black wind screen). That's just for starters, good luck and have fun!

Hey, I'm new too. I'm working on upgrades right now to but I pretty much know what I'm going to be doing. Double bubble windscreen and shorty levers are where its at to start oh and exhaust.

Hey girls, I am new to this as well. Fender eliminator, Puig DB light smoke windscreen, GSXR tank pad and Pazzo levers went on my girl about a month ago. Some of the mods I am getting on her now are new black Driven sprockets and a sexy gold chain. Also I am considering a Yoshi carbon fiber full system to get rid of some weight and improve the bike's overall performance and sound and oh course a Power Commander :)..... the only thing good about winter in Canada is having plenty of time on your hands to pretty up you bike for riding season!

sliders really are the first thing that should go on the bike. and make sure you're geared up properly: helmet, gloves, jacket, jeans ;) those should be top priority.

as for the bike: most ppl start with exhaust and windscreen. tho i'd really recommend shorty levers (asv's are titties) and adjustable rearsets (helps with us "height challenged" folks ;) )

welcome to the forum. :cheers

i definitley agree with the other post. frame sliders are a fairing saver. also, the gear. get some leathers and a good helmet. trust me, if you go down you want your body covered. i've seen several guys and gals walk away without so much as a scratch when they had their gear on.

When I first started riding and long before I started putting a few mods on my new bike I bought lots of safety gear. I never sit my butt on my bike unless I am fully protected from head to toe...goes without saying for me! Unlike some I have seen riding around in tee-shirts and sneakers....makes me cringe every time I see that! I too have seen riders go down and the ones who don't have the proper protection definitely fare far worse than the well protected ones. For sure I have to agree with you ladies, before modding your bike invest in the BEST gear you can afford!

Perhaps the ASV unbreakable levers? I picked up some Pazzo's before hearing about these and since I have shorter hands, I have the regular size ones and really like them. I would suggest a tank pad to help so your buttons/zippers don't scratch your tank.

Some people are interested in making their bike look pretty, not actually making it perform better, so depending on what you want to do, there are a few choices. :) Just a reminder that frame sliders are designed to protect your frame, not your fairings.

I also agree with riding gear, make sure you're protected well! Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots at a minimum, IMO.

I'm new too. My husband and I are attempting to ride together. We both took the class a few years ago and he had already bought his bike.

Long story short, he was gone so I never got a bike. Now he is home and I got a bike. Rode it for the first time in years and fell 3 times. I fell like an idiot and look like I was in a fight...bruises.

I just hope I can stop falling over. I'm a shortie so maybe he needs to lower the bike down some more?

I would think safety gear wouldn't be part of upgrading or moding your bike but definitely is a MUST...Frame sliders yes I forgot to mention those earlier, worth the investment from those that I have seen that have gone down or knocked their bikes over. I am going with B2 industries race railz for added protection, same price more protection, oh and a simple on also is slider spools for your swing arm.

Since it's been a few years since you took the class, maybe you could try going to a vacant parking lot and practice turning and stopping? It could be a nice refresher.

don't lower the bike more. learn how to shift weight. i'm 5'3". it's totally do-able :)

try shaving the seat some too.

sounds to me it's not a height issue, but more of a comfort issue (you don't seem comfy)

Or a balance issue.....
Ride a bicycle around in your garage or driveway and go like .5mph max and try standing still for 5seconds on the bike not moving to help with balance.
