Here\'s a deal

that a local dealership is offering me for a trade:

My bike: '00 600, clean title, 6K mi, flawless, putting back all my stock parts, fender and cargo hooks are cut though.

Their bike: '98 750 clean title, 8K mi, flawless, all bone stock (even the fender).

They offered a trade to take their bike for my bike, plus $3,200... needless to say, my reaction was

I test drove their bike, it is absolutely like a showroom new bike, and I loved the feel of the FI. It was so smooth at the lower RPM's, as it was supposed to be.

Believe it or not, I didn't feel much of a power difference between their bike (fully stock) and my bike (tuned a bit), except for at the very high revvs, where clearly the 750 had more.

I'm thinking of offering them my bike plus $1,500.... should I do it?

Hey migz,you're in the position to make a deal here.Personally,I'd offer 1000 bones cause your bike is 2 years newer,has 2000 miles less,and like you said,your bike feels almost the same as that 98...and your's is a 600!!$3200+trade in

98.......Feel....FI? if i'm not wrong FI is only on 99 and up, can someone correct me if I am wrong here?
Tell them to take your bike $1,500 and walk out with a 1000

what you need to do is have a buddy ride your bike and you ride it and then ride next to each other and as soon as you hit it you will not only see the difference you will feel it as well when you leave your bike behind, but if you do not then actually inspect the bike I forgot where but you can actually see what the displacemant is on the bike cases some where

What are they asking for the 98? I just dont see the 98 being valued much more than yours. Do you know the blue book on both. I would check that if you dont.

the dealer sold my 99 gsxr 750, pretty much boner stock, cept for decent decal upgrades, for 6200

(had 6,016 miles on her too)

its a good move (size-wise) but id opt for the 2001 or newer, to get your money's worth...

Just kidding bro. I too am looking into a bigger bike but go with the newer generation. You won't be dissapointed. But, keep the bumble bee for the track

You're right about the 600 as a track bike, no reason to get anything else, unless I'm into racing, which I am definitely NOT doing (maybe if I won the lotto?)

Bad way to go about it. Don't forget you'll be paying taxes since its from the dealer so it'll be another 700 bucks in taxes. Your bike is worth about 4500 whereas the 750 is about 5500. Its hard to sell an SRAD 600 but you should still be able to get the 4500 for it. I know riding season is over in many parts of the country so makes it hard to sell but try and then purchase the 750 from private party and tell dmv you bought the bike for 500 and only pay 50 bucks in taxes. You will get a lower price on the 750. ALso make sure the gas tank gasket isn't leaking on it. I saw two both leaking at the dealer when i was shopping and mine is leaking again and i just replaced gasket 6 weeks ago. (very pissed)

if you want to trade tell them you do an even trade no monet cause there going to turn ag=round and sell it for the same price or more than the 750 cost and your going to lose out. before you do trade if you do get the bike checked out like a 110 inspec. cause you never know dealer will screw you bad they dont care once you walk out the door its yours.

Why not just drop a 750 Fi motor in your frame, sell your motor and in the end be out like 500 bucks..
