Hi there folks. I'm trying to replace the back brake pads on my 1997 GSXR600 (had the bike for 2 years and it's my first attempt at changing them). Problem is that I can't get the pad pins out - they seem to be seized in and just won't budge. Anyone got any useful tips for getting them out?

hey mate.

dan from clifton (and radcliffe on trent) here.

did you remove the r clip from the pin prior to fuckin with in ??

if so, then just a case of persevering with wd40, brake spray, anything that will penetrate it.

where abouts in nottm are you from ???

How you doin dan,

I'm in Lady Bay (West Bridgford).

I had to remove the caliper & split it in the end. Looks like no grease had been applied to the pins when it was last assembled (not sure if that was the factory/dealer or the original owner). Beeston power sports quoted 3.75 each for new pins. The caliper seal only comes as part of a kit which costs another 20 quid!

I like the west bound section of the A52 between Radcliffe & Lings Bar. If you manage to filter all the way to the front of the queue, the traffic lights at Stragglethorpe Road make the starting point for a bit of a drag strip. Great fun!
