Hey Ladies:

My helmet is killing my hair. Im african american, and wearing a helmet is making my hair very dry. I looked inside my helmet and some strands of hair had broken off. I tried wearing a head scarf and that comes off everytime I take the helmet off.

Any recommendations??

Not a lady, but I'm gonna chime in here.

My buddy wears a bandana so when he sweats the bandana will soak up the sweat before the helmet. Obviously the conditions here are different, and he is bald(by choice), but when he pulls the helmet off, the bandana is always still on his head. His helmet is old and a little looser as well.

I would think that if you're wearing something over your head, as long as the helmet isn't shifting the scarf, then it's purpose would be served.

I personally spray my hair even if I'm getting right into the helmet, knowing what it's going to look like when the helmet comes off.

You think this has to do with the moisture trapped under the helmet? I would imagine you should be tackling the problem with hair care. Some sort of a leave in treatment to help make your hair less brittle? I would ask some one at a hair salon (or a hair forum, there must be some) for recommendations.

I use a Buff. It stays on, lots of pattern choices, and even prefer it in the heat (I just keep the neck pulled up at the front to let air into my jacket). Quick and easy. My hair is just above my shoulders and I give it a twist at the back then pull the Buff up over it. My hair's not too bad when I get where I'm going, and the Buff can be used as a headband if needed (and various other things). I'm not sure how it works with really long or really full hair, but I think it would work.

It does a great job keeping the strap from irritating my neck, too. Lots of outdoor stores carry them for under $20.

under armor makes a beenie that is AWESOME.....
UNDERARMOR for the win - i have been wearing UA beanies for years - very comfy and theyre kind of elastic so even if they come off they go on very easy. Meant for big sweaty football players to wear under helmets - being under a bike helmet is underkill so it works well

The funniest part of that pic of my man wearing the bucket is well that there is a real helmet right there on the bars and the fact that I was on another board, saw it and thought "I may need this someday" So I saved it. Then It finds a home right here not more than an hour later...

But for real, ma; you do you. People join clubs for many reasons. If you decide to join a MC (Motorcycle Club), it should be because of what YOU want to do; and not what other people think (for or against).

By the way, it's cool to see a sista on here. :cheers :banana
