I'm not familiar with the exact details but understand that you have to tap into the speedometer pulse generator signal and the tach signal. You probably also need power and a ground. All of that is likely done at the big connector between the main and front harnesses or at the cluster connector. It sounds like you've messed up those connections.

i have just fitted a gear indicator and when i connected it up to the bike the display and rev counter no longer work and indicators and main light doesn't work can anyone help
