if you cut that bump in half you will see there are a series of baffles to keep fuel from sloshing out the breather. If you are going to go that far, you could cut out the fuel cap as well and switch to a vented fuel cap so no breather would be required. Personally i like the bump as its one of the unique features of the early GSXR.
