Alright lads how are ye all, This time of year is a good time to buy and usually a bad time to sell, well here in Ireland anyway lol
I sold my busa fighter and picked up a K6 , I had one before few years back and got to say she puts a smile on my face,

she has a quickshifter and I never had one, the gent who sold it to me said it was off and i just need to turn it around like a switch to turn her on,
how do these work as i said re quickshifters I never had one and I thought they be more for track use.

happy thankgiving to all the Us lads here

Nice bike, congrats.

Going to need a bit more details on the quickshifter. Might be worth pulling the tank off and having a look at the wires, or even before you do that check the shift rod sensor is connected.

They are mostly for track use although I still have one on my K5 that's been put back to street duty as I've grown used to it. Some work by cutting fuel, most work by cutting spark. Taking some pics of the unit and maybe the sensor on the shift rod will be helpful in helping you.

Clean looking bike man! Looks like you may have some case covers judging by the starter idle gear section.

cheers lads, all comments appreciated,
today was the first day I could take her for a proper spin and run all the gears and check her for heating and Im well happy, she has a few fcratches on the bottom of the left main side fairing (I fixed them with a few short small sprays from a rattlecan) the left wing has a few too just on the edge and Ill sort them during the week.

I will take pics of the quick shifter and mayby ye lads on here will know, he told me it is connected and just like a big hand on a clock its set at 3 and if I turn her to 9 she will be on, TBH I dont think I really need her and if its worth selling I will.

I love the end can, I checked out the manufacture webs and there 600 UK + vat etc in my money thats about just south of a 1000 euros, she is the "Growler" and she sound nice also on the side it said no mods needed as it was for that bikes make and model but I know from the lad that had her before the seller had her flashed/dyno ,,,,,,, the last k6 I had , ye might find this weird but she was in black too and I bought her from a lad up the road a decent sound lad but I asked had she a pc5 for the k&n air and youshi pipe and he did not know what a pc was so questioned answered and she did run fine as far as i could tell but this k6 feels a lot more low and mid range power, more aggressive I could best put it, They look a b it different too but I think thats just the stickers he had on the first k6, I hate stickers (each man to his own) and I was lucky I could take them off without a bother.

She has the proper side mushrooms so as far as things to get for her and I always these days prefer to leave a bike as stock as possible but Ive ordered ;

a rear break res that is in black with 2 chrome rings and a chrome attachment where the stock one latches on to, (they just look out of place the stock ones and it cost not much from thew Uk, Im in Ireland.

I ordered a set of alliu billit levers with gsxr engraved, I have a set of pazzoracing in black I had on my busa fighter but the front brake ones snapped where its meant to snap after a slip and a bit of strong duck tape holds the other together and they work fine as I use a finger on em at the middle, Ill see if I can find a clutch one not sure yet if these will fit the k6 but the front end on the busa chop was a k5 front, if not
anyone here that needs a right pazzo adjustable lever leave me know*****

thinking about a double bubble but I think ill leave the clear one on
She defo needs trottle and left grips, I cant find any decent ones on the ebay, Id like black with a bit of red if possible

also getting gloss black and matt black nail varnish for the isolated scratches and the clutch cover

let me know what ye think, thanks again, Alan From Ireland

On closeup the bike looks like it's been sitting outside for extended periods and anything that can corrode is starting to. It deserves an extensive refreshing. AFAIK the clutch cover is aluminum but yours is showing lots of magnesium-like corrosion. The places where the paint is gone need to be cleaned and painted with something that will adhere well, possibly an epoxy paint but a primer may also be appropriate. That NRC cover says to me that the bike's been down and the OEM cover broke. I think of them as strong, not resilient. One school of thought is that they're too strong and that can lead to crankcase damage in a wreck. Suit yourself, though I'd be inclined to paint it. The OD of those socket head screws may not be big enough for the two places where sealing washers are used, though I don't seen any indication of leaking.

Front rotors are aftermarket but I'm not sure by who. The grip looks like something by Renthal and needs to be replaced.

It looks like someone removed "RACEFIT" from the muffler but didn't rub it out to match the sheen of the rest of the shell. That ought to be possible but you have to be careful.

That's a redneck repair at its finest and is a recipe for an accident. A lever like that belongs in the trash. Don't motorcycles get periodic inspections in Ireland? That would be an immediate MOT fail.

Yes, we are aware. Are you sure it wasn't a former track bike?
not a chance as a track bike but dont doubt she was around it a few times, hole in sump nut for lockwire

cool, that lever didnt come with the bike , them pic urls included them if someone wanted the brake levers , the broken one too but the fitting it was never used like that,
they were off another bike long gone and rather than bin them i thought maybe someone would have use, I did ducktape the tip of the broken one but not on the bike just kept them together in the parts box.

the covers are on all sides , cant say she was raced, she runs very well all up and down the line, i had the fairings off she is very clean but ive yet to meet a bike that was not down the road, yep paint needs and id do the covers too, roters are ebc , I would not agree with a red neck repair but I recon you were talking about the lever :), clutch cover and some of the fairings needs paint, engine is sound, all the wiring is tidy, the front suspension was done by a mc suspension specialist , defo 100% she was left outside an all them weathered bits will get changed.:)

appreciate all the info but anything on the quick shifter? its a hm , not sure what model except not the light one and is it turned off , can they be turned on/off , ive no idea about them
:)

and no here in Ireland we do not have a mc mot, sure if that was the case you would not ever see a bmw or a harley on our roads.

Looks like an hm plus model. Does it have the lcd as well?
yep that is the one and it had the lcd thing too, but i am taking her out and selling it as i prefer the old fashones way and im getting the engine totally serviced and every bolt professionally checked and valve clearances, oil seals etc and the sale of the shifter will help with the bill
