how would i calculate how far to bring my fork tubes up to account for a change in eye to eye length of the rear shock? or would trial and error be the best way to get it back to were it was?

You want exact numbers? Brush up on your trig and geometry background.

Or you could take it to GMD.

:D
According to traxxion-1mm of change in front equals around 5mm of ride height in rear

and how does that effect rake and trail numbers? swing-arm angle?
exactly what im looking for, i know it would depend on the angle of the swing arm, along with the trail of the front end. i know ive got to know the angle of the swing arm with the previous shock and measure the front end, and then put the new one on and try and get it as close as possible, i guess i should have measured all that before i went and put the new shock on.... shit.. :D
i think ill get her on the track and just raise the forks until it feels happy, not a big deal

You can't just fiddle with the forks, you have a shock as well.

You might get the front feeling ok but then the back is spinning and such.

Then you adjust the back and the front is out of whack again.

The two need to be considered two closely related items in a single system and changed together.
just as far as hight of the forks go, i mean. the over all feeling of the bike takes alot of work i know :)
