“We can’t do anything to prevent falls,” Genis Cuadros, Marquez’s personal trainer since his earliest days in the sport, said in the MotoGP-produced documentary Behind the Smile that followed Marquez’s debut MotoGP season.
“The one thing I always tell him is that it’s better to be as flexible as a cat than as strong as a dog. Because when a cat falls it spins around and doesn’t get hurt.
“So we try to work on flexibility so that when you fall, the injuries are not so bad. As always at 200km/h you can hurt yourself, but if you are flexible you will maybe hurt yourself less."
