I have Jap import - 1987 GSXR 1100 H

Frame number is GU74A-102179
Engine number is U703-110303

This page indicates its from 86-88 from Europe or France? That doesnt add up, though engine code U703 matches.

Anyone have a clue - in terms of origin

no, the 1100 was never sold as a japan market bike.
the story I read many years ago was all bike over 750cc sold in japan had to be imports, so Suzuki exported the 1100's to another country, past them through customs and imported them back in to japan.
does you bike have a compliance plate riveted to the steering head in the frame, this may give a clue to the country it was intended for, look for little clues like the sticker under the seat are they in French or Spanish?
