man what a shitload of work! I am tired of black shit all over my face in my eyes and up my nose - EVEN with a mask, goggles etc on

I did the sub-frame too, and the front downtubes

I sorta polished the head section, polished the flat parts and semi-polished the rough cast sections

Lots of sanding to remove nicks and dings, and I still have some imperfections in the polish but what the heck

IT IS SHINY!

I will need to borrow bcjohn's dremel to get the little cracks done, but at least all the big shit will be done by Friday

I will be updating the Project section of the website next week, and hopefully I will say that I bolted it together and fired it up

Most of the extended family spent the best part of the weekend moving my father-in-law (really good guy!) into one of those variable care places. His noodle is right on the money, but some bad health issues - f**king drag! Anyhow, am trying to get out to the machinist's one day this week. Have to tape up the bottom of the gas tank with the heat reflective shit I bought - so will give a shout and try to hook up on my way over. Also need to drop in at Supersport to see if they have any of the carb runners the 40mmm guys need PLUS repair and deliver the lowers - to much road blasting.

Oh, apropos of nothing, if you or anyone(in the lower mainland area) needs a good supply of metric stainless fasteners, the wholesalers (Fuller Metric) suggested Steveston Hardware (fishing fleet specialists). I phoned and they have pretty much the whole shooting match...and the number of times I've been in there for everything else!!!

I will post up some new pics when the wife comes back on Friday (as long as she didn't break/forget the camera!)

John I could use some of that tape, and some shiny new fasteners. Let me know when you are getting some more

For polishing the frame I used:
sandpaper 200/400/600 grit
wire wheel brush on a drill for some tough/dirty spots
Angle grinder with spiral sewn buffs
Polishing compounds (black/brown/white)

be prepared for lots of shit and dirt flying around, you and everything else will be black as soot!

If anybody needs chrome work done locally I found a shop real close to my house. They are very eager to have me stir up some bike business for them and are doing a couple of pieces for free!

yes it is difficult if you want it to look good

I would say that after you have the bike all stripped down it should take you a solid day or two to get it nice

If you thinkit looks good, roll it outside and look at with sunlight. You will be polishing it again
