I've said this before and it's worth saying again. If you are a B level or above skilled MX rider, you are likely a better rider than 99% of sportbike riders. I went from mx to sportbikes and had my first track day within a month of getting my 929. I was moved to the expert group by the instructors after 1 session. Conversely, I've seen seasoned sportbike riders get on a 450 MX on a track and they are ham fisted idiots. I often wonder how many of you who dog on dirtbikes have ever really ridden a fast one skillfully. Thoughts?But,but,but.....I rode a dirtbike/quad/lawn tractor when I was growing up so I will be fine...
This has been debated countless times,I really have zero desire to engage in yet another discussion about it. You took my reply out of context,Im in no way, shape,or form "dogging" dirtbikes.I've said this before and it's worth saying again. My reply was based on grown ups who have never ridden a street bike before yet have ridden a YZ80 for a few years prior to reaching puberty..automatically assume because they rode that 80 they have street bike riding nailed down and will go out and buy a GSXR600/750/1000 and be fine.
Your scenario of racing motocross on an expert or near-expert level has nothing to do with my comment. Obviously much skill and technique are involved with doing so. I have no doubts a rider at that level of competition will have little to no issues making the transition to street riding.
Next time I will be more specific as to avoid unnecessary confusion. I edited my reply above....
