So, I plan to change the oil when I take my bike out of winter storage. It's in a non-heated storage unit. Now, my question is. Should I start the bike and run it before I change the oil, or just change it without having started it all winter?

Thanks

I changed the oil just before I put my bike away for storage, is it really necessary to change it again at the beginning of the season? Mines in a non heated garage also.

I think you should be fine running what's in there. As I'm sure you know, over time oil becomes acidic, which is why you don't want to leave it sitting there over winter. If you changed the oil and put it away right after, it shouldn't be a problem.
