Electronic problem, Please Help!

I've had my 98' GSXR-750 in the garage for a few months and haven't had a chance to ride it. Can someone tell me why the bike's instrument gauge is reading F1. Also the RPM and Speed gauge won't work. I'm assuming the battery is dead but I'm not mechanically inclined so I need some advice. Someone please help!!!!
