I just got a 2018 suzuki gsxr 750 and it is already confusing me. It will up-shift no problem. However, downshifting, does not work unless the clutch is engaged. This is terrible on the bike bcuz i know youre not supposed to downshift like that unless it's completely necessary. Is this a new feature on newer gsxr models? Am I just not forcing the gear hard enough for it to downshift? Chain too tight? Defective? Please help..

For real? Are you blipping the throttle to try and downshift without pullling in the clutch then? Why not just use the clutch to downshift?

I am going with not blipping the throttle correctly. It should downshift as well. Also, you aren't really gaining anything by it on the street. If you need it for the track you are getting an air shifter anyway.

You're just not stomping it hard enough. Just stomp down hard with your heel and it'll drop down a gear, ya big sissy.
