Is this a decent deal?

Double Star Corp lower made in Winchester, KY, after mrk, Bolt and Trigger, collapsible stock, full rail system, muzzle brake, 2 PMAG mags and 1 steel, BSA Catseye rifle scope 4-16x50mm, AR soft case, and 600 rounds of 223.

$1100 with scope

$1000 without

We call those M4's and the Army probably pays more for one. However, are you going where we go? If not maybe it's a bit much.

how long is the actual barrel? that muzzle brake looks huge!
best bet is to check gunbroker and ar15.com forum and price gage them.

ammo is a plus but that looks like a match gun to me due to the grip, trigger and bolt. however the barrel is to short and the muzzle brake is to long. thats a cheap scope as well. Ohh and those hand guards look like junk

That's what I'm curious about. It's very odd the way it's setup. What he has listed as a muzzle brake is really a flash suppressor. I used to have that same flash suppressor on a 9mm ar with a 5" barrel. I had a 7" hand guard (yhm diamond quad rail) that would let suppressor rest inside and thread on the shorter barrel. I used the extended flash hider so that the gas/spent powder coming out of hte 5" barrel wouldn't hit my hands. AFAIK, it has no ability to reduce recoil. It shouldn't hurt the ability of the gun to fire or the accuracy...it just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Bushmaster sells it here (2/3 the way down labeled car 15 extended flash suppressor) http://www.bushmaster.com/products.asp?cat=8

It seems odd on the gun above. It's like there was an attempt to make it a long range shooter, but then either ran out of cash or sold parts individually. The stock doesn't really fit in with the grip....although it's easy to replace. If you don't get the scope, factor in that you'll need to buy a red dot ($200 - $500) and/or iron sights ($100-$200).

I'd love to know the real length of the barrel (less the muzzle device) as well as what length gas system (rifle or "standard"). Is the barrel chrome lined? What's the twist of the barrel? What weight buffer? Some more details the trigger and bolt would be nice. Is that bolt chromed or some other finish (looks gold colored)? Is the trigger a two stage or somehow modified from a stock besides the color? Are the feed ramps on the barrel and upper m4 feed ramps? What make/model hand guards are those and are they true free floating (they look it, but it doesn't hurt to ask).

Agreed, it looks like someone just put this thing together with left over parts, or could not decide on the direction they wanted to go in the build. The nice thing about AR's is that everything is easily interchangeable with enough extra money to do so. At any rate 600 rounds is pushing $300 depending where you can find it. If you like the set up which as mentioned seems strange it is not a terrible deal, but I am sure a few looks on gunbroker.com will give you a little more of an idea. Personally I would look at something more suited to my likes as this is not it for me.

Not that it makes much of a difference, but 2-1/2 years ago when I bought mine, I paid $800 shipped to my FFL from a lawyer in TX on www.gunsamerica.com. He built ARs and sold them as a hobby.

Mine was a Bushmaster upper with M4 stepped barrel and a Stag Arms lower

Came with:
-Pentagonlight MD-2 Light/Laser (About $400 new)
-Midwest Industries foregrips (About $120 new)
-A.R.M.S. BUIS (About $100 new)
-2 Magazines

I found this to be a VERY good deal. Granted this was before Obama went into office, so weapons/ammo were a lot cheaper back then. Like I said, this doesnt mean anything, but you can use this to gauge how good of a deal yours is. IMHO? Its slightly high. Not outrageous, but a better deal could be had.

Offer the guy $230.00 for the Lake City ammo (black boxes w/ Eagles) and the P-Mags. (200.00 for ammo, 15.00 for each P-Mags)

The rest is questionable. Looks like a mis-match of parts.

You can buy an LMT lower, and a Bravo Company upper, and have a quality rifle for in the $850.00 range.

+1 - you can build for much cheaper - or go with a reputable "cheaper" (price) brand and get a better gun with less gayness. look DPMS etc. - there are some parts on that gun that are the cheapest that you can buy

That price is high, IMO. And that rifle is confused....barrel/stock/grip match is all over the map. I say build one to your specs. They are pretty damn easy to put together. :cheers
