Hello,
This is my first post in the forum. I have been having issues with my bike bogging down. At one point, it would'nt go over 4000rpm. So, I pulled out the fuel pump and cleaned it thoroughly. Now it rides much better.
I would like to know, if the GSR750 has a rev limiter in neutral at the 8000rpm mark. When I put the bike in first gear, hold the clutch and rip the throttle it reaches the redline(12000rpm). However in neutral, the bike reaches some sort of limiter around 8000rpm.

The limit is lower but nowhere near that low. The main fuel filter can't be cleaned and is likely the problem if it's bogging. Be sitting down when you check the price. You can try back flushing but don't count on it working for long.

I cleaned the main filter with break cleaner till I couldn't see any more dirt coming out of it.
What I also find strange, is that the bike makes me shift gears at 3000 to 4000 rpms. I've seen videos on YouTube of a guy riding the same bike and he's at 150km/h in 2nd gear and each gear shift is at redline(12000rpm). For me to reach 150km/h I have to be in 6th. Could the problem be something else rather than my fuel pump?

"till I couldn't see any more dirt coming out of it" is ominous. Do the fuel flow test. It should be in the service manual. The next thing after the filter is clogged injectors. But bogging is normally the main filter, not the strainer. Under high demand conditions, RPM and throttle, the pump is strangled by the filter. You could also check the output pressure but the pressure regulator is fairly robust.

'makes you shift gears'? Could you elaborate on this a little?

Hello there BIllV,

Sorry it took me so long. This week I swapped the fuel pump for a new one. I also cleaned injectors and put in some fresh plugs. The bike does not bog down anymore. It is running smooth now.
However, I still feel as if it is lacking power. I've been reading around the forums for some time and I heard that it could also have to do with some sort of limp mode that these bikes have. I was wondering if that mode could be the cause of the lack of power.

Do you know how that would affect performance and whether there's a test I could do to verify if that is the case with my bike. Also, I remember when I first bought the bike (second hand) there was an FI C46 code of the EXCVA valve.

Best regards,

Hi there What?,

Sorry for my late reply. What I mean by "it makes me shift gears" is that I can shift gears and reach 6th under the 100km/h mark. And through each shift the bike doesnt lose power. So it feels as if I'm switching it right on its power band. Which is strange because I see videos of people riding the same bike in 3rd gear at 90km/h(see attached video).

Best regards,

Best regards,

Where do you drive on the right, yet use KPH on the speedo?

I still don't see what you mean, sorry. Your bike sounded OK, I didn't hear it missing or bogging?

And lastly, why even have the bar end mirrors if you can't see them with your hands on the bars?
My bar ends stick up a little and I can use them. they son't hang under the bar end, but just about it.
And What kind of bike is this anyways? It has handlebars?
*Edit:
Oh, here it is:

That is not a video of me riding my bike. It's to compare the way that bike rides, with how mine is performing.

I also realize while going fast and then releasing the throttle, the bike backfires. Today it backfired three times in a row. I have read, that it may have to do with unburnt fuel leaving the exhaust or it could be too much oxygen in the exhaust as well.
Any suggestions I would be glad to test out.
