i have a 98 gixxer 750 and i noticed the other day trying to slow from 75 to a stop and there was no rear brake. When i got home i tried to bleed it but no help. My question is when i pump the pedal and hold it, i turn the bleeder and fluid does come out; but there is still no pressure on the disc. Does this mean i need a new caliper? any help is always appreciated

sounds like either a new caliper or a rebuild... i almost never use my back brake anyway. wonder if mine is gone...

If there's air in the system, fluid can come out without having pressure on the rotor. Takes time to bleed properly and you should really change the fluid properly. Ideally it should be changed once a year anyway. If the caliper isn't leaking around the pistons, you probably don't need a rebuild yet

Sounds like air in the system. It only takes a little bit to screw everything up.

how about the brake master cylinder?? the caliper wont work if pressure cant be built up.

i just ASSUMED that since i pressed the pedal and fluid did ooze out that the caliper was bad..
