Hey guys. After reading throught the board on chain sprocket advice, I've decided on this combo for my 98 600:

DID 530VM gold
Sprocket Specialist allum w/ Titan Tough +2 rear
Sprocket Specialist steel stock gearing front

I'm not all that concerned with weight so is 530 good for longevity. I figure it's more practical for me since I don't go out to the track all that often. I want to go 2 up to give me a little bit more on my take offs w/out sacrificing too much on the top. I do a lot of freeway long distance so is going up 2 in rear not a good idea?

I know you fellas would know best for my 98 Six so let me know if this is good stuff for what I want to do?

From what I have expereinced, two up in the back will not do that much. I have ridden a friends 750 that went one down in the front, and it made a nice improvement. It did not take more than 5-7 mph off the top end, so I would say go with the 1 up in the front. My other friens 600 went up 1 in the front and down three in the back, fast as hell of the line and he thinks that he only lost 10 mph of the top. Hope this helps, I say go with the one up in front.

Thanks Thanks

now the guys on here suggest going to kneedraggers.com to get a good deal on a sprocket and chain package. I checked out the site but it's pretty standard in terms of ordering the stuff. Are you guys talking about good deal as in cheap prices in general ordering them seperately?

rk makes a quik acceleration kit. It consists of a 520 chain with one down front and one down rear(vortex aluminum) (makes for a qiuicker bike without losing drive-ability) goto the rk website to get it, or your dealer

did gold x ring 525 chain with 3+ rear titan tough is a very nice combo. 2+ you wont really notice, 3 you will barely notice. you want alot of low end and dont care to much about going over 145mph then go up 2 rear and down 1 front, now thats noticable!!! i did it and love it for street driving but long fwy rides it kinda sux.

oh btw..for fwy driving just go up 3 rear and you will love it. also stick to the factory sized chain..a 525 will be best. any more questions feel free to e-mail me or post back here, when it comes to the 600's ive experiamented with alot!

Thanks Pimpin'. Is 525 stock size? I thought 530 was. Anyway, when I looked at kneedraggers, they only offered 520VM and 530VM DID. Do they make a 525VM DID? I keep hearing that +2 isn't that noticeable so I think I'll go with your advice with 3 up so I don't jack my freeway riding too much. Thanks again.

you will notice a difference on the highway..i have a 750 so it may be alittle different ..it DOES get kinda annoying after a while..if i were you i would do the 2 up.
and i dont understand this quote:

"My other friens 600 went up 1 in the front and down three in the back, fast as hell of the line and he thinks that he only lost 10 mph of the top. Hope this helps, I say go with the one up in front."

UP 1 in the front...down three in the back??????I'v never heard of that..you would lose low end with htta set up.

I had a 97 600 with 2 up in the rear, and I could feel the difference..not much though..3 up as someone said would be better..and a 525 is stock..and should work just fine..

okay... so my choice revised to:

DID 525VM Gold
Sprocket Specialist w/ titan tough +3 Rear
Sprocket Specialist steel stock front

has anyone one did +3 up here? I konw the DID comes in 120 links. How much do I have to modify the chain... that is remove any links?
