Suzuki redesigned the crank oiling system for K9 with oil being supplied through the end via the stator cover. I'm unimpressed but to say that it's prone to crank failure is a gross overstatement. I seem to recall reports of cranks cracking early on in race use. But that's long gone.

Suzuki redesigned the crank again in 2012. If it was to get rid of the crankfailures... who knows. There was many, many reports of crank breaking ( just like the R1 from 2016--> before they finally gor it right in 2020) but mostly on full blown superbikes under a lot of stress.... not the average trackday guy.
