It helps to have a rear stand but it is not necessary. You have to take out the cotter pin of the rear axle and loosen the axle nut. On each side of your swingarm where the axle nut is and on the other side there is a bunch of lines. You have a set screw on each side. Just turn those set screws evenly on both sides and make sure that the axle is even on both sides with the same amount of those little lines on the swing arm showing. The axle does not have to be on one of those lines, just even on both sides. I might be wrong on the chain tension but I believe that you want about an inch to an 1 1/8" of slack in the bottom portion of the chain. Then tighten the axle nut and recheck the tension. Adjust to you have the right amount of slack. Hope this helps.

when you adjust the chain you should do it WHILE you're sitting on the bike, in 1st gear w/ clutch in, and have a friend adjust it to the spec

(rider weight tenses the chain up a bit
)
