Time for some pre-summer maintenance. I've had my bike for 14 years and always fancied a little more Umph on acceleration. So, I found a company ( UK ) selling Renthal sprockets and gold Tsubaki Alpha 530 X-ring chain, -1front and +1 rear. Now I know this isn't that radical but has anyone tried this set up and is it noticeable ?
Also has anyone views on going from 525 to 530 chain, I have read that it can extend the need for chain renewal by quite a lot.

I'd suggest that you stay with 525. A 530 is stronger but it doesn't sound like you're doing anything that warrants it. Regular maintenance (lubrication, slack, stretch) is the key and needs to be done just as often with a 530.

a 530 gonna be a down grade in performance, heavier sprocket and chain just drains more HP, for performance go with a 520 with hard anodized rear and steel front, then play with gearing, the heavier the rear sprocket the more rotating mass, that means acceleration drop, braking and dipping, a few teeth wont be a ton, but a 530 and more teeth you'll notice a bit in acceleration.. if your dialed in to that sorta stuff.. if its a commuter? meh..
