I think that is the fuel pump plug. Does the fuel pump prime when you switch the key and killswitch on in neutral?

You should get the bike into dealer mode to diagnose the FI code so that you can know what is really wrong. I think for this bike you'd just need a wire/tweezer tips to stick into a plug to get into dealer mode and the dash will tell you the error code.

I am not sure exactly on the specifics of your exact bike's exhaust, but best to not guess and just get the code. Kinda sucks because the FI light can be something as minor as an unplugged sensor or as major as low oil pressure. Figure it out before riding. Hope this helps.

Looking at the FSM, that generation has an exhaust valve. Makes that "baffler" comment make some sense. Guessing you have a C46 code?

+1 on the EXCVA connectors. See 4-53 in the service manual. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? Yoshimura indicates that the EXCVA should not be removed on K2-K4 1000 or you'll get a C46 error and/or the bike will run in limp-home mode. Don't know but his might also apply to K1. As best I know, there are ways around that. Pin 33 on the large ECM connector needs to be removed and the void plugged.

Yeah it has a devil exhaust and it doesn't appear to be in limp mode it has the normal power my last k1 had but I was just worried it was related to something super important

How do I figure out what codes it's throwing? Is it basically the same as a car and I need a code reader?

"How do I figure out what codes it's throwing?"
Download the service manual. The location on the cluster of things of interest is shown on 7-23. They include the FI light and where "FI" or the FI codes will appear. Information about the codes appears on 4-28. To see the codes instead of "FI" you need a dealer mode switch, about $20-$25. The switch for K1/K2 has a connector with four pins, unlike the six pin connector used on later models. Note that most codes are cleared if you turn off the ignition. The codes are explained later in chapter 4.

Watch out as I see that some 6-pin dealer mode connectors on ebay are mislabled as 4-pin. This is what the connector should look like (check your bike to confirm that the female connector matches it). If you can perform basic electronic assembl, you can make your own with the connector, some leads, and a switch.
