I have an 88 750 it currently has a 170/60/17 on the back, the stock size is 160/60/17.

I can get a good deal on a 170 55/17 for the rear...My question is is that tire usable??

Also the front has a 120/70/17 on it now, the guy also has a 120/65/17 can i use that tire too??

Thanks for your help guys !!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">The front would prolly work just fine, although it will make your speedo error increase. The rear... well, I had a 170-60-17 on my `89 and I didn't like the way that worked at all... it squared off really quickly, and it never handled well. I wouldn't do that again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. I'm pretty sure it will *fit* but I wouldn't wanna ride on it. I swapped out the rear wheel on mine for a 5.5" wheel off a newer gixxer, and I am *amazed* at how much more stable and planted it feels with a 180-55-17 on the 5.5" wheel over the 170 wide tire on the 4.5" wheel... night-and-day difference.

Thanks for the reply,

I just realized that I said 170/70/17 - i edited it, it should have been 60 series...

Anyway, so you think that the 170/55/17 would be alright then, instead of a 160/60/17...?

Thanks

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">No, that it is not at all what I think. I am certain that it will *fit*. I had a 170-60-17 on mine, and trust me, it doesn't *work* as well as the 160-60-17. The tire just ends up being squeezed into a shape that makes it impossible to use the tread on the side, it's so tall that it makes handling all squirrelly, and wears out the center tread faster. But it will fit.
