I've got what sounds like a rattly cam chain - I expect the auto tensioner has stuck.
Do I need to do anything prior to removing the tensioner for inspection ?.
Is there a procedure to follow, or can I just remove it, free it off and refit ?
If it's like other tensioners, you unscrew the large bolt in the center, and the spring will pop out. Then you unbolt the tensioner itself. To reinstall it, bolt the tensioner to the engine first, and then put the spring and large bolt back in.
