im not by the bike to take a picture unfortunately. Bolt im looking for goes where its circled in red. Thank you!! View attachment 583031

all these bolts tend to be different, they have different diameter heads, different shoulder lengths and diameters, you can go ghetto cuz its chynese kit and just use their cynese bolt kit, OR, course the proper bolts for each location off like ronayers and have good solid fittings for when you decide to switch back to stock plastics.. my self the bodywork is one place I wont compromise fitment and hardware, I want OEM and what Suzuki intended to be used for a nice good solid fairing set up.. I priced em out on ronayers one day a set is like $60 or so.. for me money well spent, not having rattles, loose bodywork and or stripped and broken bolts.. and I don't have to fiddle with or chase around the shop floor those goofy black fake shoulders.. its a good bike, it deserves good parts, the best.. go ghetto is to be ghetto...

That screw is complicated. It's an M6x1 but that's the easy part. It originally was a stepped type with 20 mm length (thread plus step, the thread length MAY be 12 mm). It was replaced by a 30 mm non-stepped screw plus washer plus flanged spacer as part of the frame brace recall. The spacer should lightly press into the rubber cusion on the cowl and stay there. But it doesn't and can fall out and be lost. There are no part numbers for replacement parts, particularly the spacer. I pointed this out to John of Suzuki customer service and he said that he'd get that fixed. At least five years later nothing has happened (geat job John!). If you have yours I suggest that you glue them in place with RTV. At the moment the only way to get one is to buy a $60 frame brace kit.

If it's not obvious, using a non-stepped screw or one with the wrong step height where one is called for can easily lead to crushed/damaged plastics. Ditto for not using a spacer.

P.S. The under cowl cover, which attaches at the top of the under cowl, was changed during the frame brace recall. I have no idea if the aftermarket bodywork is for the original or braced frame.

Do you mean the plastic brace that sits on top of the radiator? because I have had 2 k5's now, and both did/do not had this removed after the brace modification
