my gsxr 750 doesnt move when in gear.i can start the bike fine by pulling in clutch which is a must with these bikes but when i put the bike in 1st, bike only revs but doesnt move.same as with the other 5 gears.i can upshift and down shift through all the gears but bike never moves but it will stutter like normal if i dnt pull clutch in when the bike is in gear and not being givin gas jus as if im riding except for the bike is staionary.

i was thinking maybe the clutch was burned. as i checked the oil through the sight, it was normal looking.no white resedue or anything.

i had a guy start the process of replacing the clutch inwhich the oil had to be drained.when the oil was drained, he said there were shavings on the magnet and also in his words "chunks" of metal in the oil but color of the metal was undetermined do to them being covered in oil.also he said there is a little color of white mixed into the oil. WHAT MAY THIS BE AND WHAT IS WORSE CASE SCENARIO? he told me right away it was the transmission. oh and i am able to push bike around with no problem or weird noises.

Sounds like the clutch is fried or just WAY out of adjustment. Before you go pulling engine covers off, start by trying to adjust the clutch. From there, you can find out if that's all it needed, or if it needs a new clutch.

Shavings on the oil plug is a pretty normal thing in a newer bike. As it ages, they will become fewer. Chunks are never a good thing, and hopefully they're just pieces of clutch and not something harder to replace.

did u release the clutch lever? really check the adjustments. seems weird this has happened to a newer bike. my k6 has a miles of track day's and some drag race launches on it.:shifty

Like they said start with inspecting the clutch cable, push rod. Next do a full clutch adjustment via the port windows on the clutch and that do the fine lever adjustment on top.

So if that helps.

If not pull the clutch cover off and see what is going on in there.

It most likley isn't a clutch issue. You would smell it burning the plates if it was so misadjusted that it slipped while engaged. Also the clutch pull at the lever, if so misadjusted that the clutch was alway disengaged even with the clutch lever all the way out, would have no resistance.

You do have the chain on your bike right? Can you move it forward or backward, with the engine off, but the trans in gear?

When you put it into gear and let out the clutch does the countershaft sprocket rotate? Does the chain move? Perhaps you snapped something in the rear hub?

Is it still under warranty. If so take it in and let them do their job.

The clutch is cooked. Either that or the clutch cable is stuck open and is holding the clutch plates apart. New fibers and steels arent that expensive.

OK i know this thread is OLD but my bike did this same thing last night at teh drag strip. I pulled to cover off today and took all the plats out. I had 2 borken fiber plates.

I also did a clutch for a friend that said his bike just stopped going. could Rev out in gear and would get very minimun roll. I replaced his fiber plates/steel plates and springs and it worked perfect again.

These bikes already having a slipper clutch system do not give too much warning when the clutch goes.

I ran an 11.65 on one pass and on the vey next pass nothing, half track and the bike just started reving out. so. Check your clutch plates. They are either all used up or you have broken fiber plates
