I slapped on some driven grips on my 06 600 and after about 2,000 miles they are worn down to the bar. They suck crap. Im looking for something thats thick, will absorb vibrations, and will last a while.

it also depends on the bottom of his gloves. if its designed to grip the handle bar and came with some grippy leather or rubber bottom then he is killing the life span of his soft grips.

look at your glove. is it grippy on its own? is it rough? is it leather or rubber or a cloth compound.

i've used nearly every grip out there and never had any wear on me. too often people use the clipons to support their weight will put a lot of wear/tear on the grips.
