Hi guys,
Got a question for you guys as the title suggests i want to remove my balancer shaft completel,y then have the crank gear removed and the crank balanced etc, i am then going to have the alloy portion of the casings that supports the shaft completly cut off and plated up thus allowing more room for my turbo to sit in and up, is this a hair brain idea or is this a feasable modification a bit of input would be much appreciated from you guys.

Its a pretty common mod to remove the balancer and machine the gear off the crank while getting it lightened & balanced. Over on this side of the pond, Falicon, APE, Marine etc do it on a regular basis. Will you use BigCC?

As far as your case mods, as long as you don't open up an oil gallery and add to your grief or detract from the case's overall strength, it should just be a matter of sealing it back up. Post some pictures as you progress.

I remove the counter balancer, have the grear ground off the crank and the crank balanced on pretty much all my gsxr 1000, busa engines. drill and tap the oil passage to the counter balancer and put a set screw in it to block it.
I have thought about machining off the piece on the engine and making a plate to cover/seal it up several times on my turbo 1000's. just never done it.
Alot of people have mounted the turbo in different ways so that it is not in front of the balancer hump.

Thanks guys,
i`ll give the mod a go including the welding just gotta hope i don`t balls it up, i won`t get this done at big cc i know shawn knows his stuff and all but i can`t wait three years to get my casings and crank back and i haven`t got thousands of pounds to pay for all goodies he`ll try and sell me in the mean time ( only kidding shawn ) interesting point about blanking of the oil way, i`ll post some pics when i`ve done it just have to hope the magnesium content is not to high in the alloy casings.

Good luck welding the casing and not having it leak or distort!
