Anybody drag racing a 750? I have an 05 I am in the process of building for drag. Curious if there are any other 750's here being raced.

So far I have lowered it 2" and stretched 7.5". I will be lowering it some more once I get my side stand cut down.

You'll likely find people that go to the track with a 750, but I doubt you'll find many that actually seek to drag race a 750, unless there is somehow a class for it at your track. Even the 1000 is hit-or-miss, based on how hardcore you want to be, as the people that are serious often end up going to the Hayabusa.

I dont know what the future holds, as of right now I have no plans to step up to a bigger bike. Bigger motor maybe :)

Honestly I have always wanted to drag race, and I can have my family involved, win-win for me.

I am still building the bike, I havent had it on the track yet. Which kind of works out because Hurricane Irma did alot of damage to my local track so they still havent reopened yet. I'm hoping they are back up and running when I have the bike ready.

I'm also still going out and practicing my launching at the industrial parks every weekend, I wanna be somewhat decent before I get on the track lol.

Just wondering how you decided you needed such a big stretch and how much to lower it...

So if you haven't been to the track yet, how did you settle on those things?

I didnt plan on stretching so long at first, after I got all my parts I figured I would start pretty long, if I wanted to shorten it up it's easier to shorten the chain. I didnt like the thought of having 2 connecting links if I wanted to go longer.

It needed to be lowered, it's only 2" right now and it feels pretty good, I may just keep it there for the time being until I actually get a few track runs on it.


I'm actually leaning towards just doing bracket racing. Just have to get skilled enough to be consistent.

What I was saying is that on a 750 there is no need for a 7.5" stretch, all you did was add weight and make the bike slower.

The length of the stretch doesnt add weight, the stretch brackets weigh the same if I set it at 5" or if I set it at 8".

The only difference is in the chain weight, which is less than a pound, I didnt make the bike slower, but thanks for your opinion. After stretching it on the first test launch I already much more confident and planting more throttle. Stretch was worth it.

Not only will you add overall weight to the bike, you will make it easier to loose traction on the rear tire due to your new weight distribution. You just want it long enough to not wheelie when launching. A 750 isnt gonna loop anywhere else. 7.5 is way too much, especially for a stock 750. Lowering it 2 inches in should keep it from looping by itself. It a lot of trial and error. :cheers

Also your rear end looks too high, get some lowering links to get more weight on that back tire :cheers
I have lowering links, Just need to cut the side stand down before I go down to the next hole on them. :cheers

I needed the stretch, with my current gearing (which may change) my first test launches just being lowered were all fighting the front end. I weigh 240 lbs and it was still trying to jump out from under me. Current gearing is 15/45

I know it needs straps which I will be getting in the next couple weeks.

Thus far after stretching I have been able to make 3/4 throttle launches without losing traction once. Thats on a michilin PP2ct at 30psi.

How many shifts are you making in the 1/4. Sometimes gearing can be too short and you will gain some time by making one less shift, it all depends on power, weight, and aero. Like I said, it is a lot of trial and error, and dozens of runs to get it dialed in. :cheers

My Gen2 Busa below.....2x the horsepower of your 750,3x the torque. Does not need stretch ;)

Take time and dial in your shock,at your weight the OEM shock most likely isn't cutting it. Invest in an aftermarket shock or get your stock one re-valved for dragracing;you'll be able to launch significantly harder and be more consistent as well. Once you start to actually launch hard at the track,that Michelin isn't gonna hook w a 7"+ stretch. You'll need to invest in suspension and a sticky rear if you wanna run as quick as possible.

And,you are adding a decent amount of weight to rear of the bike;the bolt-on extensions are heavy(including the mounting bolts) as well as the extra chain.
