I am getting ready to rebuild my 07 GSXR 1000 and have a rod and main brg question. For a motor that is going to be on the rev limiter most of the time, what bearing sizes are recommended ? Do you set the clearances per what the motor calls for or set it up with more clearance? Thanks

You guys have a bunch of good questions on this forum, but they are spread out. I thought we could put together a thread to consolidate them all.

We are a professional race shop/engine shop that specializes in GSXR motors. We build race motors for Roadracing, dragracing, flat track, street, and SCCA D/C Sportsracers. We also run a 2 rider Pro AMA Roadrace team.

So...if you have any engine building questions what so ever, post them here and I will try to answer them.
I have 91 or 92 1100oil cooled new rings stock shim head dont know if milled or not had to replace 1 sleeve and mill head 0.10 to clean up I used 2 block to crankcase gaskets to space it back it has 240 lbs cold compresson and 275 hot I need a spacer for block but dont know how to figure it out what thickness to get , it a 1216 12-5 webco pistion and dont know if is strocked or not help please ,runnig 20 laps on dirt track with priemun fuel

I have a gsxr1000k6 turbo`d which as i don`t know anyone this side of the pond who has one i`m having a few issue`s with it, firstly on low boost 6 to 8 psi what is the SAFE maximum comp ratio to run, question two do i need an ignition retard module for this sort of boost, and question three are the injectors sufficant for fueling this amount of boost without running lean at the moment its running the standard ecu with mapped piggy back power commander usb3 and i really don`t fancy melting the top end again, thanks for your time hope you can help me

I'm getting ready to pull the engine out of my 04 GSXR750 to do some tranny work. I was thinking about throwing on the thinner Yosh' head gasket to give me a bump in compression and I have a few questions:

1 - what does the compression end up at assuming everythign else is stock?

2 - is there anything else that needs to be done when using the thinner gasket, or can I just buy it and put my origional engine back together with the new gasket?

3 - will the added compression still allow the bike to run on 93 octane(street riding down here in Fl...)

4 - where's the best place to grab one of them?

Thanks again for the info - there's not much surrounding these gaskets that I could find.

get a begi FMU and a PC3 and tune it. Make sure you also run a TRE as it wont map correctly without it. Stock compression and stock injectors are fine. dont go over 6-8psi. :cheers

Rebuilding a 93 GSXR750WC. Adding Yosh cams. which of the following can/should be done to increase power even further? Port, thiner head gasket, mill the head, performance piston rings, valve job. Also is there anything in these catagories or in addition to these categories that you recommend?

ok hi everyone I'm new to the site and not really familiar with bikes as far as motor swaps ETC. I just bought an 02 GSXR 1000 with 4k on it. the first day i bought the bike I got on the highway doing wheelies and I held up one for a about a mile I'd say and the next thing you know I spun a bearing. so what i did was went and bought an 06 1000 engine with 1500 miles on it that came with everything such as ECU, harness, cluster etc.. pretty much everything to start the motor. I had been told that the 06 1000 motor fits in the 01, 02 frame with a lil moddification so i wanted to get the best answer possible from one of you that really knows about this set up. please tell me what exactly need to be done and if i need any more parts. thanks alot

How did it get out of time? Cam chain tensioner install/adjustment? If it's far enough off, the pistons and valves will hit. I've done it before with the engine in but you may need to drop the front slightly to get a good look if you're unsure. It's a good idea to have a service manual in front of you for the job.

Just wondering what year the gsxr600 was switched from being carburated to fuel injected?

Also wondering what overall difference this makes to the bike? I have heard some guys say the bike was bigger and more awkward before the conversion, but I am completely clueless. Is the bike smaller or more streamlined with the fuel injection addition? Does it make any difference at all?

They changed to FI in 2001. 750's made the switch in 1998. Early FI models seemed to have a bit of a problem with being more abrupt with response in the transition from off to on the throttle. It's something noticeable in the overall driveability but FI sure opens up the tuning possibilities. Smaller and more streemlined? Not neccessarily. The older generation bikes had some pretty big curves but even the early FI bikes feel dimensionally big compared with newer models. The FI didn't have so much to do with it as the rest of the chassis design. It takes up roughly the same space at the the fuel system for a carburated bike.

i have an 08 600, with a full yosh exhaust, pcIII, k&n race filter......i wanna build it up all motor....what are my options and price for each? and i dont wanna hear everyones BS about buy a 750 or 1000...i love my 600 and wanna make it the most badass one around
