I’ve got my 2003 gsxr 600 up on stands as I suspect the cam chain/tensioner/guides are worn out as it’s causing a metal on metal sounding noise when around 5-6000RPM’s. Can’t seem to hear it higher than that…

but! Looking for any recommendations on what to use/buy to re-seal the airbox to the intake tubing. Pictures to follow!

Regular ole weather stripping . I even had to add RVT black silicone to my OEM foam strips because the adhesive was so old on them.

I don’t even want to admit how much I paid for two pieces of foam strips.
That’s funny lol, I’ve been meaning to do it and as you can see from the pictures it does a piss poor job of dealing. What kind of adhesive did you use for the foam to airbox?

Black RVT silicone. Holding up great.

Remove the old foam left over (you may need to use a razor blade) and wipe off the residue with alcohol or Goo Gone, new foam weather striping will hold up fine on its own.
Thanks! I’ll look at picking up some weather stripping at the hardware store tonight after work. Do you remember the width of the foam you went with? I got two choices between 1-1/4” x 1-1/4” or 3/4 x 7/16” ?
I would measure the foam I have now but the airbox is at home in the garage and I live 40 mins from the hardware store lol! Thanks in advance :)

I wasn't aware of that but see what you mean. This may give you an idea of its thickness:

That sucks IMO.

However all may not be lost. See this. Here's an image from it:

Thanks for all the replies guys. Being from Canada doesn’t help either as seems like anything has to come from the US lol. Here’s a picture of what I ended up goin with! The 1-1/4 was just a tad big and not as dense as this stuff. I shall update y’all on the final product. Anything’s better than the deteriorating sh*t on there now!

I actually bought the OEM ones for my '04 750. Haven't ran the bike yet with them since other work is happening, and it probably cost more than the weather stripping would have.

But after cleaning my airbox and heating and sticking the new foams onto the airbox, they look really good and fit perfectly against the frame. Adhesive on them seems just fine, given they are new.

If they don't seal well or degrade, I'll probably just do weather stripping. But I'd assume the first set from factory lasted 18 years...
