Two things:
The rear will get REALLY light during hard breaking, that's why you lock it up easily. IMHO, only use it at slow speeds. And the correct foot placement is with the balls of the feet on the pegs, that way you won't rest on the brake either. If you want to, just adjust it down, that way you'll have to press further to lock it
