During heavy breaking I have a tendency to lock up my rear wheel easily. I was thinking of adjusting the brake. I know you can lower or raise the brake pedal but can you stiffin it up, requiring more force? It also feels to me like the weight of my foot is pushing the brakes so I ride around holding my foot up, and after awhile themuscles on the top of my ankle get sore.

Two things:

The rear will get REALLY light during hard breaking, that's why you lock it up easily. IMHO, only use it at slow speeds. And the correct foot placement is with the balls of the feet on the pegs, that way you won't rest on the brake either. If you want to, just adjust it down, that way you'll have to press further to lock it
