A few shock ?\'s

I am looking for a new shock for my 96, and I was wondering if newer style 750's, or even 1000's, would fit on my bike. I tried to raise the height, but LP told me the rear shock was different from 96 to 97. Any input you have is much needed.

i think the only difference is the temperature compensating pin in the valves which supposedly reduces fade as the oil gets hotter.

never had them out so not 100 %

but they look identical as do the 600's

But they are still compatible? I want to bid on one on ebay, but I want to make sure it will drop right into my bike. Thanks again.

i got one from a 01 600 that will sell you for 50 shipped if your interested, its complete with the upper mount. I was looking for an upper mount and then i got ahold of one right after i bought this, so i havent even touched it

I'll sell you a 98 750 shock (w/stock spring) with 10kmi $50 shipped (I can add a Racetech spring for $20). I don't think the new models will fit. Get 2-3 20 mm washers and put them under the top shock mount to raise the rear. [email protected]

Just get dogbones and straps.

yeah dog bone adjustable to keep it at track or at stock level for street straps from schintz ought to do the trick

I'm not exactly familiar with the dogbone and strap. When changing the shock, what all do I need to replace? I mainly just want the rear end raised, and my old shock is gettin.....old. Everyone I have talked to says that a 97 or newer shock will raise the 96 up considerably.
