Thinking of getting the 89 motor on ebay or just picking up the 1987 partzer. Anyone here already bidding on it? I might have to fight you for it.


Would there be a problem with dropping that into my 85? The bike is the same, just the internals are different, right? Slingshot motor with the short pistons...?

It will bolt right in but I think you would need the CDI or a Dyna 2000 for it.

Keep in mind the 89 is a short stroke motor. It is a different bore & stroke than the "normal" motor.

If I remember right the only difference is where the oil cooler lines bolt to the oil pan is different between the two years.

At this point, I'm leaning towards the 87 parts bike that is in Mass. I have a friend with a trailer.
