I'm after some advice on my motor. It has started to develop a rattle at low revs and when cold, which i suspect is the big end. I think that it may be to expensive to rebuild so i'm thinking of a second hand motor. The only one that is available locally, Canberra Australia, is one out of an 86 (long stroke), will this fit and am I going backwards in replacing my short stroke motor with a long stroke one?

I was also told that if I put an 1100 motor in I will have to take the motor out ever time i need to adjust the tappets, is this true.

Thanks.

The long stroke motor is better than the short stroke, but try to find a 90+, and yes adjusting things on a 7/11 usally means dropping the motor

I have recently finished rebuilding my 88 750 motor. It hasn't been cheap BUT, I personally feel good about my decision knowing exactly what's inside and what shape it's in. I should have many happy miles ahead of me.
