Hi,

I was in the process of replacing the stock air filter with a K&N, what I thought was a 30 minute job at most turned into a nightmare. The bolt for one of fuel rails on the airbox was the last thing I had to remove before I was going to open up the airbox and drop in the new air filter. The bolt spins and does not back out. I tried lifting the bolt head and the fuel rail bracket while turning the bolt to no luck. below is a picture of the bolt, its the silver one on the airbox. Looking at the other bolt that I was successfully able to take out with no issue it appears the bolt threads into a rubber grommet with a metal thread sleeve insert.

Any help will be appreciated. I like doing simple stuff like this myself, but I want to do everything I can before I take it to a shop.

I tried looking for a way to pull the entire air box but no luck. The bolts that bolt down the air box appears to be inside. Just looking for less destructive method before I take it to a shop.

you gotta cut that bolt off now, between the box and the rail mount or the head and rail mount, no choice here use a small hack saw blade, no choice, you can try a few tricks like lifting up on one edge of the box top to try and get it to spin free, sucky but shyt happens I guess, then you need a new left side velocity stack or re-glue that insert back in get a new OEM bolt, ronayers.com

shiddy deal but what ya gonna do if its not under warranty, my best guess is it got way over cranked and busted that insert loose which is odd cuz if it's busted free it should pull out so try pulling on good unless it flares out at the bottom or something?

you could also get an impact wrench and crank it tight more and more till it comes free and pulls out, then you can cut it free of the upper and get a new stack or re-glue? sucks but not the end of the world by a long shot..
