After I don't know how many years, I finally rode a GSXR1000 and I'm in love. It was an all stock 2013 and positively stuck to the ground, handles exactly like what I'm looking for. Fueling is immaculate, fast as all hell, smooth engine, amazing tranny, I can't say enough. I was somewhat surprised by how little power it made below 6K, but I'm used to bikes with a totally different powerband. I'm guessing that means I should cross the GSX-R750 off my list.

Every Suzuki's I've ridden, DRZ400SM, Bandit 1250/1200 and now the GSXR, just loves to lean. My next bike will be a Suzuki sportbike I'm just not sure which one.

Do all the GSXR1000's through the years have that low slung, "inside" the bike feel?

Would the GSX-S1000 be similar handling-wise?

The GSX-S is going to make more torque at lower RPM, and handling will be different due to having handlebars and not being such a tucked position. It's also going to be a more comfortable bike.
You should still try the BMW and the ZX-10R, as both make more power than the equal year Suzuki and have very nice features. IMO, the only reason to go for a 2013 GSX-R is because you can get them for cheaper.

I think I still gotta go with the GSXR, I love that way that felt leaned over. I've ridden several sportbikes from Honda and Kawasaki, none of them gave me the confidence that I had today. I am concerned about not having traction control though.

I liked my L3,got it new for a great deal. Took the money I saved over buying an S1K or Gen4 ZX10 and did head/cams so I'd make the same peak rwhp but with a better torque curve with killer midrange. I still like the K5/6 better overall. But the stock brakes on the L3 feel wooden,more so once they get hot.

Hi, i was abit hesitant about the gsx-s as well, due to prior dislike for the early gsxs 750, but i think the gsx-s1000 handles awesome, if your abit older you'll love the ride position, it has a fairly grunty low-mid delivery but still has reasonable topend, i had a sv650 prior to it and it did handle very well, but the gsx-s handles even better,particularly tip in as the bars give you extra leverage.
It does come with a very basic rear shock, the fork respond well to some tweaking, and the front pads require changing to more aggresive bite, but that gives you sweet handling / braking, 140 hp at the wheel, with plenty more if you do some eng mods as its a k5 based engine

I have an L1 750 and put EBC HH pads on--big improvement--and replaced the brake fluid. Those are the only pads I'll use, street or track. Radial Brembo calipers and Brembo pads, but WHICH pads? SOME parts (brake pads, tires, etc) are specifically made just for production lines. To confirm this, I searched the part number of the stock Brembo pads and came up with nada, nothin', zilch, zip, rien, nanimo nai. Not available in a store near you.

Most guys who raced the SV650 (I called it a "half-a-busa") swapped out the front forks for ones off a gixxer 600 'cause the SV front end got squirelly under heavy braking.

Hey oldgixxer dude,

In your signature, you mention the Great Banning of 2016. What was that, if you don't mind me asking? I know no gixxers were shipped to North America in 2010....
I could tell you,but then you'd get banned from the forum too :thumbup

Uh...I raced a Kawasaki ZX-9R and a Yamaha R1 and I think I could do the same lap times on my 2011 GSX-R750. Love it.
If I were doing track only it would 750 all the way but I'd still like to do some street riding with it. That 1000 already felt weak enough below 6K, I'm not sure I'd want any less power for getting around at legal speeds. Would a 750 -1 on the front sprocket still be noticeably slower down low compared to the stock 1000?

Just rode a 2007 600. Not sure I like the riding position, felt much more monkey and football to me. 1000 felt much more secure and planted.
